Winston-Salem LASIK – Does LASIK Hurt?

Perhaps one of the most common reasons people avoid laser vision correction is fear of pain. This is understandable. Your eyes are an incredibly sensitive part of your body and when words like “cut” are thrown around, fear can easily ensue.

The truth is LASIK is a safe, effective, and painless procedure. Some people report feeling slight pressure during the short surgery, but this is, if anything, little more than an annoyance. Winston-Salem LASIK surgeon Dr. Khemsara is a board-certified ophthalmologist who takes every care to ensure your absolute comfort during each part of your procedure.

Making Your Comfortable

To help make you comfortable, Dr. Khemsara will administer local anesthetic prior to your LASIK procedure. When necessary, he can also provide you with a mild sedative to increase your comfort. This will be discussed with you during your initial consultation.

Postoperatively, you may experience mild discomfort for a few days. However, this can easily be dealt with through the use of over-the-counter pain medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Eye drops may also be necessary during your short recovery period to help prevent dry eyes. Full postoperative care instructions will be provided prior to your procedure.
